We recently released an April update to prevent an issue where ZoomText and Fusion could start with a black screen or become unresponsive. This can occur on devices running Windows 11 version 25H2 or later on systems using Intel graphics hardware (11th generation or older).
The ZoomText and Fusion updates will prevent this by automatically detecting when the issue is present and switch to a supported display adapter setting.
You can learn more by visiting the What’s New pages for ZoomText and Fusion.
How to update
To install the April update of ZoomText or Fusion 2026:
- Open the ZoomText or Fusion menu, depending on which product you are using.
- Click Help, then select Check for Updates.
Change the Display Adapter
This issue can also occur in earlier versions of ZoomText and Fusion. If you experience a black screen or unresponsive display, follow these steps for your version of ZoomText or Fusion:
- ZoomText or Fusion 2023: Open the ZoomText menu > ZoomText Support > Display Adapter and select Compatibility mode (Magnification API used).
- ZoomText or Fusion 2024: Open the ZoomText menu > Help > Advanced > Display Adapter and select Compatibility mode (Magnification API used).
- ZoomText or Fusion2025: Open the ZoomText menu > Help > Advanced > Display Adapter and select Magnification API.
Restart Windows to restore the visual display.

We will also release an update for ZoomText and Fusion 2025 in early May. This update will prevent the black screen issue, but will not include the additional performance improvements available in ZoomText 2026.
