At Vispero, we are committed to delivering innovative AI-powered experiences in JAWS®, Fusion®, and ZoomText® while also ensuring we meet the evolving safety, compliance, and usage requirements established by our AI technology partners.
As part of that commitment, we are introducing an important update to how AI-powered features are accessed in the latest 2026 versions of JAWS and Fusion. These changes will begin rolling out with the May 13, 2026, update starting with users in the U.S. only.
Why This Change Is Happening
Over the past year, we have continued enhancing the registration and account experience for Vispero software users, making it easier and faster to register licenses, manage software, and access cloud-connected features. Recent improvements to account registration and sign-in workflows have helped lay the foundation for additional services and functionality across our products.
Now, to comply with the terms and conditions required by the AI model providers integrated into our software, we must implement age verification requirements for certain AI-powered features available in JAWS and Fusion 2026.
What Is Changing
Beginning with the May 13, 2026, update:
- Certain AI-powered features in JAWS and Fusion 2026 will only be available to users who are signed in with a Vispero account that has an age setting of 13 or older.
- Users who are not signed in, or whose account indicates an age below 13, will not have access to those AI-powered features.
- Some AI features may also have modified behavior or additional restrictions for users between the ages of 13 and 17 in order to align with provider safety guidelines and compliance requirements.
These updates apply only to US-based users with 2026 versions of JAWS and Fusion and are specifically related to AI-powered functionality.
License Registration and Sign-In
As part of this process, users in the United States will now be required to register and sign in with their Vispero account when using the latest versions of JAWS or Fusion in order to access supported AI features.
This requirement helps us verify account eligibility and ensure continued compliance with the safeguards and policies required by our AI integration partners.
For most users, this will simply involve signing in with an existing Vispero account and ensuring the correct age tier is associated with the account.
Important Information for Existing Users
There are several important details users should be aware of:
Review or Update Your Age Tier
Users can review and manage their account age tier through the Vispero Portal.
If your age information is incorrect, you may need to update your account details to continue accessing AI-powered features.
Users Incorrectly Marked as Under 13
If a user previously identified themselves as under 13 by mistake, Vispero Support will need to reset that declaration before the account can be updated.
Enterprise and Multi-Seat Customers
Organizations using multi-seat enterprise licenses that were previously exempt from account creation requirements will continue to have access to AI-powered features.
Additional Support for Younger Users Coming Soon
We recognize that some users under the age of 13 may still need access to supported workflows and services. In the June 2026 update, we plan to introduce a login option specifically designed for users under 13 that will continue to meet provider compliance requirements while improving accessibility and usability for younger customers.
Our Commitment to a Smooth Transition
We understand that changes to sign-in requirements and AI feature access may affect existing workflows for some customers. Our goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible while continuing to expand AI innovation responsibly and safely.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we implement these important compliance updates.
